One person is dead following a motor vehicle accident Thursday afternoon on a highway in South Carolina. The accident occurred in Orangeburg County just south of Exit 98 near Santee.
The Charlotte Observer reports “the crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. on a US-301 overpass above the I-95.” The accident caused both Us-301 and both directions of I-95 to shut down.
According to WACH, S.C. Highway Patrol report that “the tractor trailer was traveling northbound on Highway 301 when it collided with another car exiting onto the highway. That’s when the tractor trailer overturned and caught fire.” Sadly, the driver of the tractor trailer sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
