Security Failure? Our Legal Take: Cab Driver Injured in Alexandria Gas Station Shooting

A 47-year-old cab driver was reportedly shot and injured in what appears to be an attempted robbery outside an Alexandria Shell station Thursday morning, September 22, 2016.
According to The Washington Post, “[t]he attack occurred outside a Shell station at Duke Street and Holmes Run just before 2 a.m.” Police apparently told media, “the shooting was likely a robbery attempt.” The victim was transported to the hospital in “critical condition.”
Authorities have allegedly since arrested a suspect in connection with the shooting.

If so, were additional security precautions implemented by the property owner or management to deter crime?
Generally, property owners are required to protect all patrons legally on the premises from any foreseeable harm.
