Smithfield, NC – A motorcycle accident early Monday morning, October 14, 2024, left one man fatally injured.

As reported by JoCoReport.com, “[a]round 2:00am, the Highway Patrol said Joseph Stanley Wagner, age 52, of Clayton was operating his motorcycle westbound on US 70 Business near Smithfield, when a tractor trailer pulled from [a] warehouse onto US 70 into his path.”

ABC11.com is reporting, “[t]he State Highway Patrol said Wagner was thrown off his bike in that collision where the trucker left the scene.”

According to WPYBCountry.com , “[the driver] was apprehended in South Carolina. He faces charges of felony hit and run resulting in death. Authorities noted that [the truck driver] was transporting goods for a third-party company.”
The investigation is ongoing.
